Robert GibbsRobert Gibbs is a trusted advisor and strategist to President Barack Obama, having been with him from the early days of Obama’s 2004 Senate race to his sweep to the White House, to his more recent role as a Senior Advisor for the President’s reelection campaign.

He joined Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign as communications director and held the title at the onset of the 2008 presidential campaign until becoming Senior Strategist for Communications and Message during the general election. During the four years of intense campaigning and close contact, Gibbs became an integral part of Obama’s team. According to The New York Times, Gibbs advised President Obama on politics, strategy and messaging, and spent more time with him than any other advisor. On Jan. 20, 2009, Gibbs assumed the role of Press Secretary of the Obama Administration.

Gibbs has also served as Press Secretary of John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign and has previously specialized in Senate campaigns, having served as Communications Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and for four individual Senate campaigns, including those of Obama in 2004 and Fritz Hollings in 1998. Gibbs was also the Press Secretary for Rep. Bob Etheridge.

Karl RoveKarl Rove, served as Former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000 to 2007. He oversaw the Offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs, and was deputy chief of staff for policy, coordinating the White House policy-making process.

Rove has been described by author and columnist Michael Barone in U.S. News & World Report as “… unique … no Presidential appointee has ever had such a strong influence on politics and policy, and none is likely to do so again anytime soon.” Washington Post columnist David Broder has called Rove a master political strategist whose “game has always been long term … and he plays it with an intensity and attention to detail that few can match.”

Before Rove became known as the “The Architect” of President Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns, he was president of Karl Rove + Company, an Austin-based public affairs firm that worked for Republican candidates, nonpartisan causes, and nonprofit groups. His clients included more than 75 Republican U.S. Senate, Congressional, and gubernatorial candidates in 24 states, as well as the Moderate Party of Sweden.
