Be an Active Voice in the State Bar: Run for a 2020 Board Position

Are you a leader? Or do you wish to be one? Now's your chance to put your skills into action – and gain valuable leadership experience. Run for a 2020 State Bar Board of Governors' position – petitions due March 1.
    Corey Lorenz

Corey Lorenz, a District 9 representative on the State Bar Board of Governors, speaks at the board's meeting in September.

Dec. 4, 2019 – Leaders of all experience levels are welcome and needed on the State Bar of Wisconsin Board of Governors – and when you get involved, you help shape the future of your State Bar and your profession.

“At the end of the day, choosing to run for the Board of Governors is choosing to have an active voice and support the members of our profession,” said Corey Lorenz, a District 9 representative on the board. “I am part of the discussion on issues that directly affect me as a lawyer.”

The State Bar exists to support lawyers. “It is important and necessary,” she said, “for lawyers to be involved in the decision-making body that guides them, and to represent the greater legal community when doing so.”

There is also a significant value, Lorenz says, in connecting on a deeper level with Wisconsin’s legal community and the issues lawyers face. “It is a great opportunity to learn about all that the State Bar offers and participate in decision-making that impacts lawyers in our state.”

It is also an opportunity to meet Wisconsin lawyers. “Being on the Board of Governors, I’ve made valuable connections with other lawyers across various fields of practice around the state,” Lorenz said.

    Petitions Accepted Before March 1
