Final Order 17-10: Petition to Amend Board of Bar Examiners Rule 6.02 (BA 6.02)

Attorney Aaron J. Loudenslager petitioned the supreme court for an administrative rule to amend Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) Rule 6.02 (BA 6.02) to “bring Wisconsin’s character and fitness investigations with regard to prospective lawyers’ mental health into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).” The BBE filed a response, petitioning the court to dismiss the rule petition and refer the matter to the BBE for further consideration. Following discussion, the court voted to dismiss the rule petition and refer the matter to the BBE as set forth in Order 17-10.

    ORDER ISSUED: March 8, 2018

DISPOSITION: Petition dismissed and referred to the BBE for review and consideration of its rules and procedures to ensure compliance with the ADA. The BBE is ordered to submit a written report to the court by July 1, 2018. The report will be made available to the public on the court’s website.
