Eckhardt’s Estate Planning Workbook now in its fifth edition

Feb. 4, 2009 – Attorneys who practice estate planning know how complex and technical this area of the law has become. Eckhardt’s Workbook for Wisconsin Estate Planners, long a valuable resource for this complicated area of practice, has just been revised. As always, the workbook is a one-stop reference book, with a practical how-to approach, including   checklists, examples, annotated sample forms, tables, and charts, as well as diagrams that simplify and integrate the topical discussions. The 2008 edition incorporates earlier supplements and highlights developments in the law since publication of the 2007 supplement, including legislative changes relating to gift, death, and estate taxes, a discussion of federal legislation affecting Roth retirement accounts, and a completely reorganized chapter on using revocable trusts.

This new edition provides even more quick and clear answers to questions about drafting wills (with or without trust provisions), nonprobate transfers, death taxes, revocable trusts, gifts, marital property agreements, buy-sell agreements for closely held businesses, living wills, powers of attorney, and much more.  Many forms, author-drafted as well as official agency forms, have been updated for this revision. All author-generated forms and letters from the book are on an enclosed CD-ROM.

Representing the combined efforts of numerous attorney-experts over the years, this latest edition of Eckhardt’s Workbook for Wisconsin Estate Planners is the work of the following authors: Susan L. Collins, John C. Frank, Joyce Littlejohn Kiel, John A. Kussmaul, Judith G. McMullen, Daniel G. Mohan, Randy S. Nelson, J. Lewis Perlson, Carl J. Rasmussen, Linda Roberson, Wendy S. Rusch, Dean T. Stange, Sheila Boothby Stevens, Paul J. Tilleman, and Stephen R. White.

As with all State Bar of Wisconsin CLE books, this one is kept up-to-date through regular supplementation.  Bookowners who subscribe to the Bar’s automatic supplementation service will automatically receive the update at a 10 percent discount.
