29th Annual Institute of Trial Practice

Case Details

This year’s case involves a volunteer firefighter responding to a call late on a snowy night. On his way to the fire station, he slides through/runs a stop sign and collides with another vehicle, severely injuring a passenger. Hear testimony regarding the disputed condition of the pavement, as well as the speed and control of both vehicles. Also at issue, are whether the firefighter had a “habit” of running stop signs and if the other driver could see the firefighter’s vehicle approaching the intersection. The case will be decided by a jury selected at the pre-trial half-day seminar and will be presided over by Richard J. Sankovitz of Milwaukee County Circuit Court, ABOTA’s 2015 Judge of the Year.

Expert witnesses testifying in the case are accident reconstructionists. See how each one interpreted the accident in the videos below.
