Zombiepocalypse: National Mock Trial in Madison Features Zombie-Themed Murder Mystery

April 22, 2014  Like a scene out of a movie, more than a 1,000 people will descend upon Madison for Zombiepocalypse. But don’t worry, participants are not the undead — they are high schoolers vying for the top spot in National Mock Trial 2014.

National Mock Trial will take place at the Dane County Courthouse and the Wisconsin State Capitol from May 8 to 10. Download the complete schedule here (PDF).

The National Mock Trial Championship is the culmination of months of learning, practice and competition by young people with an interest in the court system. This year, students will be presenting arguments in a fictional case, the Estate of George Romero v. Ashley Williams. In the case, the owner of an energy drink business winds up dead after enjoying an evening with his friends at a zombie run. His business partner is found not guilty at a criminal trial, but his estate pursues a civil claim, which is at the heart of the competition.
