April 16, 2014 – Do you think movies exemplify unethical conduct? Is your firm prepared for a natural or digital disaster? The next State Bar Practice411 Breakfast & Business: Eggs, Ethics, and Answers program, on May 23, in Madison, focuses on these issues.

First Session – Cinema and Ethics: What Can We Learn From Hollywood?

Explore various rules of ethics via the cinema. Presenter Carl Edenhofer will use clips from movies and/or television shows to exemplify (un)ethical conduct and discuss the rule(s) implicated. The session will be interactive and entertaining as well as educational.

Carl R. Edenhofer Jr. graduated in 1983 from Hamline University School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin in 1983. He is an adjunct professor at Carthage College, where he has lectured on various legal topics for 27 years. He is a member of the Solo/Small Firm and General Practice Section board. Edenhofer practices at Edenhofer Law Offices S.C. in Kenosha/Paddock Lake, with an emphasis in estate planning and elder law.

Second Session – When Sharknados Attack: Preparing for Disaster

While Sharknados are a myth, other types of digital and natural disasters occur all the time. The Rules of Professional Conduct impose obligations on lawyers to exercise care in protecting client and confidential information. Learn why firms fail to plan for disasters and lose critical data from Nerino Petro, State Bar practice management advisor. Learn about business continuity planning, avoiding digital disasters, and other strategies to protect your data and resources before disaster strikes.

Petro has 14 years of solo legal practice experience and 12 years as CEO of CenCom Legal Technologies, which he founded to help lawyers and their staff deal with the practice management issues facing them.

    Tuition, Registration, and CLE

Tuition is $84 for members, $39 for Ultimate Pass holders, and $99 for nonmembers. The program will be submitted for up to 3.5 CLE and EPR credits. Register online.
