Join the State Bar As it Illuminates New Mining Proposals at Aug. 28 Public Forum

Aug. 20, 2013 – The State Bar of Wisconsin is aiming to help the public decipher Wisconsin’s new mining plans through a public forum on the Penokee Range Mining Proposal on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau.

This public forum will be an informational event for the media, citizens, local officials, and others who want to hear from legal experts on various federal, state and tribal laws that affect mining in Wisconsin. Panelists will also lead a discussion on the Penokee Range mining project and the manner in which the law and technical issues could impact the project approval.

The panel will include a variety of legal speakers from the State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE Mining Law Symposium – a day-long seminar for attorneys concluding shortly before the public forum.

The panelists will represent a wide scope of viewpoints with expertise in everything from tribal relations to natural resource management. Don Behm, a reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, will moderate the forum.

The public forum will begin at 5 p.m. with a question-and-answer period at 6 p.m.

For more information about the public forum, contact State Bar Public Relations Coordinator Andrea Gage, (608) 250-6025 or agage@wisbar.org.
