Bertz Re-elected to Wisconsin Judicial Council

Madison, WI – The State Bar of Wisconsin is pleased to announce that Attorney Thomas W. Bertz, partner at Anderson, O'Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla in Stevens Point, was re-elected to a three-year seat on the Wisconsin Judicial Council.

Bertz was first elected to the Judicial Council in 2009, and has served as the chair for the past year. The Judicial Council was created by the Legislature in 1951 as an independent judicial branch agency. The 21-member body is responsible for studying and making recommendations relating to court practices, procedures, and administration of Wisconsin courts.

"I want to thank all of the members who voted for me, and particularly those who publicly endorsed my candidacy," said Bertz.

Bertz graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1962, where he was the assistant editor of the Marquette Law Review. He graduated with honors from the University of St. Thomas in 1959. He is an active member of the State Bar, where he has served on the Board of Governors, the Executive Committee, and the Professional Ethics Committee. He is also the past president of the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association, the Portage County Bar Association, and the Wisconsin Association of Worker's Compensation Attorneys.

Bertz's community involvement includes the Chancellor's Advisory Council at UW Stevens Point and the Stevens Point Rotary Club.

The term begins on July 1.
