Nov. 4, 2015 – Here’s a chance to jump-start or enhance your firm’s or organization’s pro bono program. The Legal Assistance Committee is offering Pro Bono Initiative grants of up to $5,000 to members or organizations to develop, support, or expand pro bono legal services projects in their communities. The deadline to apply is Dec. 31.
June 17, 2015 – Many Wisconsin lawyers make sacrifices to serve people who cannot afford to pay for legal services. Next week, the State Bar will honor lawyers, law firms, and organizations for their public interest law and pro bono work. Lisa Clay Foley and Andrew DeClercq are among those extraordinary attorneys who will be honored.
Feb. 4, 2015 – Meet a young lawyer who has discovered ways to give back to the community through pro bono work in Milwaukee. Noelle Bobbe works with nonprofits in real estate matters and handles cases critical to her pro bono clients. In her volunteer work, she has discovered that, while some cases may not be complex, there are always lessons to learn.
Jan. 7, 2015 – The State Bar annually recognizes attorneys, judges, law firms, organizations, and law students who have made outstanding pro bono, public service, or public education contributions. Sept. 3, 2014 – Congratulations to the 121 lawyers who are recognized as 2013 Wisconsin Pro Bono Honor Society members. Recently created by the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission and the State Bar of Wisconsin Pro Bono Program, the honor society recognizes lawyers who provided pro bono legal services in excess of 50 during the last year.
June 18, 2014 – Truly exceptional pro bono attorneys and programs continually assist Wisconsin citizens with unmet legal needs. In this article, we feature a lawyer who helped a little girl find a loving home after tragedy and abuse and a legal clinic that helps military veterans. They, along with other volunteers, will receive awards at the State Bar’s Annual Meeting & Conference June 26 in Lake Geneva.
The State Bar of Wisconsin National Mock Trial planning team is calling on attorneys, judges and experienced teachers and coaches from around the state to step up to the bench and volunteer to serve on a judging panel during the 2014 National High School Mock Trial Championship on May 9 and 10 in Madison.
