    Nov. 16, 2011 – The State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE 2011 Business Counsel Institute, formerly the Corporate Practice Institute, focuses on helping business counsel make sound decisions when working with business leaders facing a difficult or crisis situation. This year’s program also offers a choice of breakout sessions. Select sessions will be recorded for future webcast programs, which are free to all attendees.

    The Business Counsel Institute kicks off at 8 a.m. on Nov. 30 and concludes at 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 1, at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.

    Wednesday

    9 a.m. – The Business of Government Litigation: Perspectives on and Best Practices for Dealing with Cases Involving the U.S. Justice Department

    9:50 a.m. – Front Page News: What Every Business Attorney Should Know About Dealing with the Press in a High-Profile Legal Matter

    Breakout sessions: 10:55 a.m. – The Sky Is Falling: Getting a Grip on the Risk of Catastrophic Damages, or Essential Steps for Cost-Efficient and Effective Discovery Compliance in an Electronic Age

    The institute includes an optional CLE luncheon, Jury Decision Making, on Wednesday. Speaker to be announced.

    Breakout sessions: 1:40 p.m. – Strategies for Effective and Cost-Efficient Intellectual Property Protection and Enforcement, or Responding to a Class-Action Complaint

    Breakout sessions: 3:10 p.m. – Arbitration: Rose Garden or Minefield, or Minority Shareholder Litigation: Rights and Responsibilities

    4:10 p.m. – Strategic and Ethical Considerations for In-House Counsel Regarding the Attorney Client Privilege

    Thursday

    8:30 a.m. – In-house vs. Outside vs. Government Counsel

    9:45 a.m. – Federal Corporate Civil and Criminal Investigations: Effective Management and Lessons Learned in the Trenches

    Registration and CLE information

    Tuition for members is $340 with optional CLE luncheon, $325 without the luncheon, and is free to Ultimate Pass holders. This institute will be submitted for up to 12.0 CLE and 1 EPR credits.

    Select sessions will be recorded for webcast seminars and will be included in program tuition.
