    Inside the Bar May 2008: President-elect post goes to Kammer, Pennow wins secretary, Hanan wins Judicial Council

    Douglas W. Kammer, Kammer & Studinski Chartered, Portage, won the race for State Bar president-elect, defeating Thomas W. Bertz, Anderson, O’Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla, Stevens Point and Kenneth A. Knudson, Knudson, Gee & Torvinen S.C., Superior. Kammer received 1,871 votes, Knudson received 1,764 votes, and Bertz received 1,646 votes.

    Douglas W. Kammer, Kammer & Studinski Chartered, Portage, won the race for State Bar president-elect, defeating Thomas W. Bertz, Anderson, O’Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla, Stevens Point and Kenneth A. Knudson, Knudson, Gee & Torvinen S.C., Superior. Kammer received 1,871 votes, Knudson received 1,764 votes, and Bertz received 1,646 votes. Kammer’s term begins July 1 when Diane S. Diel, solo practitioner, Milwaukee, succeeds Thomas J. Basting Sr., Madison, as State Bar president.

    “I’m honored to serve my peers as president of the State Bar of Wisconsin,” says Kammer. Kammer graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1970 and has been active in the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers (WATL), local government, and Boy Scouts.

    In other State Bar races, Mark A. Pennow, Green Bay, was elected State Bar secretary, defeating Pamela J. Veith, Eau Claire, 2,527 votes to 2,156 votes.

    Beth Ermatinger Hanan defeated Kevin J. Lyons, both of Milwaukee, for a seat on the Judicial Council, 2,444 votes to 2,192 votes.

    • Marla J. Stephens, Milwaukee
    • Robert H. Storm, Wauwatosa
    • Amy E. Wochos, Milwaukee

    District 6:

    • Samuel W. Benedict, Waukesha
    • Jeffrey R. Zirgibel, Brookfield

    District 8:

    • James R. Duchemin, Eau Claire

    District 9:

    • David A. Hart III, Madison;
    • Marsha M. Mansfield, Madison;
    • Kevin J. Palmersheim, Middleton; and
    • Frank D. Remington, Madison

    District 10:

    • John T. Schomisch Jr., Appleton

    District 12:

    • James A. Carney, Carney, Janesville

    District 14:

    • Thomas L. Schober, Green Bay

    District 16:

    • Jessica J. Tlusty, Schofield

    Incoming division presidents-elect are: Wendy D. Calvert, Chicago, Nonresident Lawyers; Robert Swain Jr., Appleton, Senior Lawyers; and Nicholas J. Vivian, Hudson, Young Lawyers.

    All terms begin on July 1.
