Be the best GAL for minors that you can be; hone your expertise in
Wisconsin insurance law at CLE seminars
The State Bar CLE Seminars Annual
Guardian ad Litem (GAL) training live seminars, April 26 and
27, Madison, are the best source of information to fully understand the
GAL's complex roles and duties.
The Basic seminar, April 26, is for attorneys with
limited experience as a GAL in family court cases. Find out how GALs fit
into the family law system and what GALs do at all stages of the
proceedings. Learn practical skills in conducting investigations
including interviewing children, mediating, writing reports, and
appearing at court hearings.
The Advanced seminar, April 27,
addresses specific topic areas encountered in the GAL's role. Mental
health professionals will help attendees understand how children
disclose physical and sexual abuse and learn how to identify
psychological disorders and parental chemical dependency.
Both days will contain segments on appreciating the
dynamics and impact of family violence and on ethical issues specific to
those acting as a GAL.
Tuition is $360 for both days or $199 for one day only. The video
seminar is scheduled for June 7 and 8 at statewide locations. Each
program has been submitted for up to 6.5 CLE credits, 6.5 GAL minor
credits, and 1.0 EPR credits. Both programs will be submitted for
Minnesota CLE credits.
The Insurance Assurance: The Latest in Insurance Coverage
Litigation seminar, April 28, features Arnold P. Anderson,
one of Wisconsin's most recognized insurance litigators and author of
Wisconsin Insurance Law (State Bar CLE Books 5th ed. 2004).
Join Anderson and a faculty of top litigators in discussing the most
critical issues in insurance law.
This comprehensive and instructive seminar features discussions on:
plaintiff and defense perspectives on reducing clauses in uninsured and
underinsured motorist policies; the economic loss doctrine and whether a
breach of contract can be an occurrence; subrogation and the impact of
the spoliation defense; the status of first party bad faith in
Wisconsin; and ERISA, the Great West decision, and
preemption.
Attendees can register for the seminar and purchase the book for a
special package price of $389. Passbook users will be invoiced
separately for the book at the discounted price and should pay only for
the seminar at registration. The video seminar is scheduled for June 1
at statewide locations. The seminar, 8:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., has been
submitted for up to 4.5 CLE credits, does not qualify for EPR credits,
and will be submitted for Minnesota CLE credits.
