State Bar CLE Books has released the 2005 edition of the popular book
A Guide to Wisconsin Statutes of Limitation and Other Time Limits.
The new edition reflects legislative updates through the 2003 - 04
Wisconsin Statutes.
Since 1992, this biennial publication, cosponsored by Wisconsin
Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company (WILMIC), has helped attorneys keep
track of myriad time limits appearing in the Wisconsin Statutes. As a
companion to the Wisconsin Statutes, the guide provides a painless way
to understand the statutory requirements of a variety of time limits and
makes finding the correct statutes a simple process. The heart of the
guide is the time-limit compilation, which covers statutes of
limitation, statutes that direct action by a party during the pendency
of a lawsuit, and statutes that direct a person or entity to take a
certain action within a specific time.
The guide simplifies wordy and confusing time-limit statutes by
listing them in a four-column table format covering (1) the statute
number, (2) the action, event, or proceeding, (3) the time limit, and
(4) the event from which the time limit is computed. This innovative
format isolates all of the time limits from a particular chapter of the
statutes, allowing the reader to see all limits that may apply to a
particular case or proceeding. The useful subject index will point the
way for readers seeking information when a statutory reference is
unavailable.
Finally, the guide's helpful introduction explains how to compute
time under a statute of limitation or other time limit. Chapter 893 _
the general time limitations chapter of the statutes _ is reprinted in
full.
