The State Bar offers two free publications that outline the Bar's
legislative positions and present the overriding principles that guide
the Bar's public policy involvement.
The Government Relations Program has released its Final
Legislative Report, 2003-2004 Legislative Session detailing the
issues the State Bar and its practice sections were involved with during
the recently concluded legislative session. The report is a continuation
of the State Bar's commitment to keep members informed of legislative
activities. The report lists State Bar and section positions and
includes the bill number, relating clause, legislative authors, and a
brief position rationale for each bill.
Available in September, the State Bar of Wisconsin Policy
Positions 2004 Guide provides information on the
overriding policy principles that guide the Bar's public policy
involvement. Positions are organized by broad topic headings: regulation
of the practice of law; delivery of legal services; administration of
justice; funding of the justice system; criminal practice and procedure;
and civil practice and procedure. Excerpts from the
guide are available.
