State Bar TV pilot project "Wisconsin Lawyers Make a Difference" now
on air
The State Bar recently launched a three-month television pilot
project, "Wisconsin Lawyers Make a Difference," highlighting lawyers who
demonstrate exemplary commitment to community or pro bono service. The
first of three 30-second television spots began airing this month, and
two more are being developed for May and June.

Madison attorney Troy Mayne is featured in April for his work with
Habitat for Humanity (see photo). Lance Grady, Waukesha, and Dean
Richards, Delafield, will be featured in May for their involvement with
a local fire department, emergency medical team, and search and rescue
dive team (see related article). Attorney Beth Roney Drennan will be
featured in June for her pro bono services at Teresa House, a legal
assistance center in Baraboo.
The vignettes, which incorporate the key qualities the public values
most about lawyers _ community involvement and expert advice _ are
airing on WISC-TV3 and UPN-14 to a potential viewing audience of 645,000
during the three-month period. Additional information on the spotlighted
attorneys and their activities will be posted to WISC-TV3's Web site,
www.channel3000.com/index.html.
WISC-TV3 and UPN-14 serve Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge,
Fond du Lac, Grant, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Jefferson, Juneau,
Lafayette, Marquette, Monroe, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Vernon, Walworth,
Washington, Waukesha, and Waushara counties.
"According to a recent State Bar survey, Wisconsin lawyers donate
more than 750,000 hours of community and pro bono service annually says
Kevin Palmersheim, Public Image Committee chair. "If this pilot is
successful, we hope to showcase more examples of lawyers who contribute
to a positive public perception of our profession in other parts of the
state."
The State Bar introduced the Branding the Profession initiative in
the spring of 2002 in response to member concerns about the public
understanding of the legal profession and the declining public image of
lawyers.
