Lawyers who epitomize community service wanted for pilot TV
spots
As part of its long-term effort to educate the public about the value
lawyers bring to their clients and their communities, the State Bar is
developing 30-second television spots highlighting lawyers who have
demonstrated exemplary commitment to community or pro bono service.
"This pilot project that will air on WISC-TV3 of Madison and UPN-14
of Janesville reaching 23 Wisconsin counties, April through June 2004,"
says Madison-area attorney Kevin Palmersheim, Public Image Committee
chair. "The project will feature three individual lawyers or groups of
lawyers who have had significant positive impact on an individual,
group, or community through community service or pro bono activities. If
the pilot is successful, we hope to air similar spots in other parts of
the state."
The State Bar seeks nominations of lawyers or groups of lawyers to
feature in three vignettes, which will incorporate key qualities that
the public values most about lawyers - problem solving, expert advice,
and community involvement. The TV spots are not intended to be a
commercial for a lawyer's practice, nor is the State Bar seeking
examples of the routine delivery of quality legal services.
Nominees must be State Bar members in good standing and have engaged
in extraordinary community or pro bono service activities that have had
a significant, positive impact on an individual, group, or community.
Nominees must practice or reside in the 23-county WISC-TV3 or UPN-14
viewing areas.
Nominations are due by Jan. 26.
