Feb. 21, 2024 – Leaders of all experience levels and backgrounds are welcome and needed on the State Bar of Wisconsin's Board of Governors – and when you get involved, you help shape the future of your State Bar and your profession.
The State Bar of Wisconsin is looking for leaders in service to the State Bar of Wisconsin and the legal profession.
“I encourage anyone to offer to serve as a leader of the State Bar, because it is a way to engage with the law outside of the constraints of your employment. And it will inevitably benefit your practice and your quality of life in ways that may surprise you,” said Jane Bucher, State Bar president-elect.
Petitions Accepted Before March 1
The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body, and governors serve two-year terms.
In April 2024, Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 6 (Waukesha) elects two; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one. View District Map.
To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a petition, signed by 10 active members in their district, to the State Bar by March 1, 2024.

Vote in State Bar Elections This April
All State Bar elections (including for State Bar divisions and sections) will be held via electronic ballot in 2024, starting April 11, 2024. The election closes at noon Central Time on April 26, 2024. Those elected take office July 1, 2024.
