CLE Books updates Wisconsin Discovery Law and Practice

Now in its third edition, this indispensable resource contains the collective knowledge of several of Wisconsin’s top civil litigators and continues to provide practical guidance on how to conduct effective discovery in Wisconsin.

Sept. 16, 2009 – “Whether as a reference text or a survivor’s manual, Wisconsin Discovery Law and Practice fills a large need for practitioners who engage in any amount of civil litigation,” observed Marquette Law School Professor Daniel Blinka in a Wisconsin LawyerTM magazine review of this treatise’s first edition, published by State Bar of Wisconsin CLE Books.

Now in its third edition, this indispensable resource contains the collective knowledge of several of Wisconsin’s top civil litigators and continues to provide practical guidance on how to conduct effective discovery in Wisconsin.

Five of the book’s nine chapters focus on the following key discovery procedures: depositions; interrogatories; requests for admissions; inspections of documents, things, and places; and physical, mental, and vocational examinations. Each chapter explains how to prepare, conduct, respond to, use, and enforce discovery requests of these types. The chapters also contain examples and forms for each discovery technique.

Additional chapters provide important information on the scope of discovery, the ethics of conducting discovery, how to use experts in the discovery process, and judicial supervision and enforcement of discovery requests. A comprehensive table of contents, tables of authorities, and a thorough index make it easy to quickly locate the information you need.

In his review of the book’s first edition, Professor Blinka stated:

The authors of Wisconsin Discovery Law and Practice have performed an important service for Wisconsin lawyers. The law of civil discovery has been succinctly yet comprehensively explained in a single volume. This book will prove useful to experienced civil trial lawyers as well as to lawyers who are still in the process of mastering this critical subject. It is a reference work and a guide to how the rules of discovery operate in practice. Any lawyer involved in any type of civil litigation should own and use this book.
