Judge Snyder, Court of Appeals District II, to retire

Sept. 2, 2009 – Judge Harry G. Snyder, Court of Appeals District II, recently announced that he will not be a candidate for re-election to the appellate judgeship that he has held since September 1991.  District II sits in Waukesha and reviews appellate matters from 12 counties:  Calumet; Fond du Lac; Green Lake; Kenosha; Manitowoc; Ozaukee; Racine; Sheboygan; Walworth; Washington; Waukesha; and Winnebago.

Judge Snyder, who served as a circuit court judge in Waukesha County before sitting as an appellate court judge, said that it has been an honor and a privilege to represent the citizens of the District II counties and of Waukesha County as a judicial officer for over 29 years, and that he will miss the legal challenges and the associations that he has enjoyed during his judicial career.  According to Snyder, "It is gratifying to know that there are several people who have expressed an interest in seeking the District II position should I retire; the work accomplished by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals is of immense importance to the people of Wisconsin and to our jurisprudence system."  Snyder's District II replacement will be selected in the 2010 spring election.
