    Retirements

    Sharon A. Gallagher, U.W. 1976, will retire in May after 25 years’ service as an arbitrator, mediator, and hearing officer for the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission. She will continue her private practice in labor arbitration, mediation, and fact-finding in the Midwest.

    The Ashland/Bayfield County Bar association has elected the following officer: president – Kelly McKnight, Ashland.

    The Brown County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president – Jodi Arndt, Green Bay; president-elect – Evan Yi-Van Lin, De Pere; secretary – Todd George Simon, Green Bay; and treasurer – Byron Conway, Green Bay.

    James Casey, Dayton 1988, has been chosen cochair of the International Research Collaborations project at the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable, which is part of the National Academies, Washington, D.C.

    The Green County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president – Tara Kleinhans; president-elect – Angela MacLennon; and secretary/treasurer – Todd Schluesche, all of Monroe.

    The Green Lake County Bar Association has elected the following officer: president – Winn Collins, Green Lake.

    The Hon. Scott Horne, U.W. 1979, La Crosse County circuit court, has been appointed by Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to the Wisconsin Crime Victims Council.

    Patricia M. Hutter, Illinois 1997, has been named an executive leader of the United Performing Arts Fund Next Generation Council. She is a partner in the corporate services practice group of Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee.

    The Legal Association of Women has elected the following officers: president – Cara Coburn, Madison; president-elect – Britta Lindberg, Verona; secretary – Margit Kelley, Mount Horeb; and treasurer – Carrie Benedon, Madison.

    The Ozaukee County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president – R. Douglas Stansbury, Cedarburg; president-elect – Corinne Kaplan, Mequon; vice president – Therese Henke, Mequon; secretary – Kaye Vance, Mequon; and treasurer – Robert E. Holtz, Mequon.

    Jim Palmer, Valparaiso 2002, has been appointed by Gov. Jim Doyle to the Wisconsin Higher Educational Aids Board. He is executive director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association.

    Jack R. DeWitt, U.W. 1942, received the 2009 Leonard L. Loeb Award, presented by the State Bar Senior Lawyers Division, in recognition of his improvements to the legal system and his leadership in advancing the quality of justice.     Faith Mondry, Marquette 1997, has been named one of 2009’s “Women Putting Their Stamp on Metro Milwaukee” by the U.S. Postal Service. She is a U.S. postal inspector in the Milwaukee office.

    Howard N. Myers, U.W. 1964, received the Melvin Lurie Award for labor-management cooperation from the masters program in human resources and labor relations at U.W.-Milwaukee. He mediates employment disputes and also is of counsel to Hawks Quindel Ehlke & Perry S.C., Milwaukee.

    earned the Albert F. Beck Award from the United Way of Waukesha County in recognition of its level of charitable giving.

    Michelle Birschbach, Marquette 1998, and Andrew Steimle, Marquette 1995, both with the Manitowoc office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., are among recipients of the Chamber of Manitowoc County’s 40 Under 40 award.
