State Bar Helps Answer Your Practice Management Questions

Visit the Law Practice Management area on WisBar, www.wisbar.org/lomap, for a variety of practice management tools and information that you can use in marketing and operating your law practice.

Practice 411Should my firm have a Web site? How can I operate my office more efficiently? Do yellow page ads really work? "These are symbolic of the types of questions lawyers - especially solo and small firm practitioners - commonly are looking for help in answering," says Nerino Petro, the State Bar's Law Office Management Assistance Program (LOMAP) advisor.

Recently, the State Bar, the national Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), and the Wisconsin Association of Legal Administrators (WALA) joined efforts to provide a one-stop-shop for sharing the knowledge, information, and resources of their separate Web sites on law office administration, marketing, human resource management, and other topics. The results of this collaboration significantly enchance LOMAP's already rich content area on WisBar. "In addition to the publicly accessible areas that all Bar members have access to on the various Web sites, Law Office Management Section members gain special members-only access to ALA and WALA site areas and discounted access to research studies. Members should consider joining the section to receive this added benefit," suggests Petro.

While visiting LOMAP on WisBar, subscribe free to Practice411, an electronic list where State Bar members can share information, ask questions, and connect with a panel of experts when tackling business and technology aspects of their practices. "We've created a peer support community for State Bar members, which is a place to get quick responses to lawyers' everyday practice management issues including technology," Petro explains.

Need individual assistance? "We provide that, too," Petro offers. Members may contact LOMAP advisor Nerino Petro at PracticeHelp@wisbar.org, (800) 444-9404, ext. 6012, or (608) 250-6012.
