    Michael S. Anderson, Washington Univ. 1980, has been named managing partner at Axley Brynelson LLP, Madison.

    Schuyler J. Baehman, Marquette 2000, has been promoted to assistant managing editor of the Sports Business Daily, a Charlotte, N.C.-based online trade publication.

    Jeffrey A. Berens, Marquette 1996 cum laude, has been named a partner in Dyer & Shuman LLP, Denver, Colo., continuing to concentrate in securities fraud, consumer, and employment law class action litigation.

    Kelley appointed to federal court

    Susan V. KelleySusan V. Kelley, Catholic University of America 1979, has been appointed to a 14-year term as a federal bankruptcy judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

    Kelley is currently a partner with Michael Best & Friedrich, Madison. A bankruptcy attorney, Kelley focuses her practice on commercial and bankruptcy transactions and litigation. A certified business bankruptcy specialist by the American Board of Certification, Kelley has experience representing creditors, debtors, creditors' committees, and bankruptcy trustees in environmental and construction matters, court proceedings, foreclosures, and out of court workouts. She has prosecuted
    and defended preference claims and participated in complex chapter 11 and
    12 cases.

    Kelley is the first woman to serve as the State Bar Bankruptcy Insolvency & Creditors' Rights Section chair (1999 - 03). She is a member of the State Bar Board of Governors (2001 - 04), the Board of Governors Executive Committee (2002 - 03), and the Convention and Entertainment Committee. Kelley also is a CLE seminar presenter.

    Beginning July 1, Kelley's judicial duties will require that she hear bankruptcy cases in Milwaukee and once a month in Green Bay.

    Robert H. Brigham, U.W. 1950, has joined Hill, Glowacki, Jaeger & Hughes LLP, Madison, as of counsel, focusing on probate, estate planning, and real estate. He previously owned Brigham Law Office.

    Gail Buenger, Marquette 2002, has been promoted to director of corporate compliance at Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee.

    Robert D. Crivello, Marquette 2003, has joined Cannon & Dunphy S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate, focusing on plaintiff's personal injury work.

    Marc S. Cwik, U.W. 1999, has joined Jimmerson Hansen P.C., Las Vegas, Nev., as an associate. The firm concentrates in complex civil litigation, insurance defense, medical malpractice, real estate, gaming, and domestic relations.

    Lori J. Fabian, Marquette 2003, has become an associate with Hippenmeyer, Reilly, Moodie & Blum S.C., Waukesha, in the general practice of law.

    Emma Katherine Lehner, U.W. 1997 cum laude, has joined the Arizona Attorney General's Office as an assistant attorney general in the antitrust unit. She previously was with the white collar crimes and special matters trial group of Lewis & Roca LLP.

    John J. McEwan, Michigan 1982 cum laude, has been named general counsel for The Livesey Company, Madison, a real estate development and management company. He formerly was with DeWitt Ross & Stevens, Madison.

    Ross L. Kodner, Marquette 1986, president of MicroLaw Inc., Milwaukee, recently was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and was reappointed cochair of CLE and program planning for all U.S. Legal Tech conferences. Kyle Doviken has joined MicroLaw as director of national business development. Doviken previously practiced with a small firm and worked for West Group and Lexis-Nexis.

    John J. O'Neill, Marquette 1982, has been named a partner in the Milwaukee office of O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen L.L.C., continuing to practice in civil litigation, commercial transportation, insurance coverage, and property litigation.

    Appointments, Elections

    Patricia K. Alfredson, William Mitchell 1990, has been elected president of the Olmsted County Bar Association. She is an assistant city attorney in the criminal and civil divisions of the Rochester (Minn.) City Attorney's Office, focusing on land use law; building, safety, housing, and fire code enforcement; and criminal litigation.

    The Clark County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Bonnie Wachsmuth, Owen; vice president - Linda C. Smith, Neillsville; and secretary/treasurer - Matthew K. Prior, Neillsville.

    Bruce A. Olson, Marquette 1981, has been appointed chair of the ABA's Techshow 2004, to be held March 25-27 in Chicago. Olson is with the Green Bay office of Davis & Kuelthau S.C. Alyson K. Zierdt, Marquette 1981, of the
    firm's Oshkosh office, has been elected chair of the District 3 Investigative Committee for the Office of Lawyer Regulation.

    Sandra Lee Esrael, U.W. 1976, has been elected treasurer of the National Association for Regulatory Administration, which promotes safeguarding of children, youth, and adults through licensing regulation. She is with the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, concentrating in child care and public health regulation.

    Three attorneys with the Milwaukee office of Hinshaw & Culbertson have been elected to leadership positions with the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association (MYLA). Serena Pollack, Denver 2000, has been chosen president-elect. She concentrates in professional malpractice litigation and commercial litigation. Mellissa Schafer, Marquette 1999, was elected to the MYLA board. She concentrates in worker's compensation, general liability, and tort coverage. Jeff Patza, Marquette 2000, was appointed cochair for the monthly MYLA Minglings. He concentrates in litigation and appellate law.

    William A. Jennaro, Marquette 1968, has been appointed to a two-year term on the Milwaukee Bar Association Foundation Board. He is a shareholder at Cook & Franke S.C., Milwaukee.

    Grant C. Killoran, Minnesota 1989, has been elected a State Bar delegate to the ABA House of Delegates. He is a partner in the Milwaukee office of Michael Best & Friedrich, where he focuses on complex business disputes litigation, is chair of the health law litigation group, and is cochair of the pro bono committee.

    James F. Lisowski Sr., Arkansas 1991, has been appointed to the standing panel of chapter 7 and chapter 11 bankruptcy trustees for the District of Nevada. He is with Lisowski Law Firm Chartered, Las Vegas, Nev.

    John Schober, Marquette 1976, has been named chair of the State Elections Board, which administers Wisconsin's election and campaign laws and investigates alleged violations. He is a shareholder in Schober Schober & Mitchell S.C., with offices in New Berlin, Hartland, and Oconomowoc, concentrating in elder law, real estate, probate, and estate planning.

    The St. Croix Valley Bar Association has chosen the following officers: president - Rose M. Allen, Hudson; president-elect - Kenneth C. Pletcher, River Falls; secretary - Michelle L.W. Heckmann, River Falls; and treasurer - Jason M. Fey, Hudson.

    Harry F. Franke, Marquette 1949, has received the Belle Case LaFollette award from the Wisconsin Law Foundation. Franke, who is of counsel to Cook & Franke S.C., Milwaukee, received the award for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the legal profession.

    Shawn Guse, U.W. 1995 cum laude, has been awarded the Star of the Quarter by the ABA Young Lawyers Division, in honor of his exemplary leadership in the development and administration of the division's goals and programs. Guse is with the Madison office of Quarles & Brady LLP.

    The Marquette University Law School Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program has been ranked as the eleventh best ADR program nationwide by U.S. News & World Report. Specialty program rankings are based on nominations made by legal educators at peer institutions.

    Robert L. Habush, U.W. 1961, is the 2003 recipient of the U.W. Law School's Distinguished Service Award, presented to U.W. Law School alumni and faculty who have made outstanding contributions to the legal profession. Among his accomplishments, Habush has held various leadership roles in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and has been instrumental in the success of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is president of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C., Milwaukee.

    C. Scott Pryor, U.W. 1980, has been granted tenure by the Board of Trustees of Regent University, Virginia Beach, Va. He is an associate professor at the Regent University School of Law, teaching commercial and bankruptcy law.

    Roger D. Strode, Marquette 1988, has been ranked as one of the country's 2003 outstanding healthcare transaction lawyers by Nightingale's Healthcare News. Strode was recognized for his excellent credentials and work in health care law.
