Free legal research for State Bar of Wisconsin members coming in November

On Nov. 1, the newest State Bar of Wisconsin member benefit will become available when the State Bar and Fastcase, Inc. release a new service to members. With this new service, members will have 24/7 access to free, online legal research through Fastcase's national database of caselaw, statutes, administrative codes, and court rules.

Appellate court e-filing on the horizon

On Oct. 28, the Wisconsin Supreme Court will hold a public hearing on rule amendments introducing electronic filing in the state appellate courts. If adopted, as anticipated, the rules will be effective July 1, 2009, although the appellate e-filing system will be available for attorneys' voluntary use in early 2009.
