Election ballots will be mailed during the week of April 8 and must be returned by April 26. The Young Lawyers Division (YLD) president-elect, directors, and other officers are elected during the annual meeting, by nomination from the floor. Those elected will take office July 1, 2002. More

Bar honors volunteer lawyers

The State Bar will hold its annual Volunteer Lawyers Recognition Celebration on May 15 at the Annual Convention in Madison. The event acknowledges attorneys, judges, law firms, organizations, and law students who made outstanding pro bono, public service, or law-related education contributions in 2001. More

Commission makes progress; continues debating MDP and UPL issues

The State Bar's Multidisciplinary Practice (MDP) Commission, appointed as a result of a May 2001 Board of Governors resolution, is charged with determining whether Wisconsin should authorize lawyers to practice law in firms with other professionals and defining what constitutes the unauthorized practice of law.
