State Bar seeks nominations for Leonard L. Loeb Senior Lawyers Division Award, nominations due Feb. 13

The Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) seeks candidates for the annual Leonard L. Loeb Award. Nominees must be 60 years or older, have improved the legal system, and shown leadership in advancing the quality of justice for all. The award recognizes a lawyer who has made significant contributions to the legal community, has shown respect for the legal system, and has demonstrated a love for the law and what it seeks to accomplish.

The nominee exhibits high ideals and personal character, through his or her legal expertise is or has been involved in community organizations to make the community a better place, has participated in local bar or State Bar activities, and has had a lengthy practice of law, including many years of service “above and beyond” the job.

The award is named for Loeb, a former State Bar president who was instrumental in establishing the SLD and who served as its first president. The award will be presented the 2009 State Bar Annual Convention in Milwaukee. Past recipients include Loeb (posthumously), the Hon. Paul Gartzke, Ernest Hanson, Robert B. Peregrine, and James R. Cripe.
