About the Program
Sign up for Helping Victims of a Natural Disaster:
Learning How to Provide Disaster Legal Services, a free
disaster legal services training program
produced by the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Wisconsin
Last year’s rampant flooding in Wisconsin illustrated the need for
more lawyers to be trained to handle a disaster. This program is
designed to meet that need.
Come attend an afternoon of free training to educate lawyers about
common legal issues faced by victims of a natural disaster. Hear legal
services professionals from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the
Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and private
practice discuss how disasters affect your clients’ lives.
Topics include FEMA and other federal assistance, municipal
liability, landlord/tenant disputes, insurance law, common fraud schemes
and consumer protection issues. This program will be submitted to the
Board of Bar Examiners for 3.5 credits.
