Description
In a challenging economy, the skills of a bankruptcy paralegal are a
tremendous asset to a law firm. Learn how to effectively assist a
bankruptcy team with confidence and receive tips from the
trenches. An examination of bankruptcy laws and procedures
relating to Chapter 7 consumer bankruptcies and the role of paralegals
in bankruptcy proceedings, including the commencement of a case,
preparation of schedules, review of adversary matters and litigation,
debtors' duties and creditors' rights and obligations will be
presented.

About the Presenters
Claire Ann Resop concentrates her practice in bankruptcy,
litigation, collection and real estate. She also continues her
appointment on the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the Western District
of Wisconsin. Claire Ann has lectured extensively for the United
States Trustee Training Program, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the
National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, the American Conference
Institute, News and Credit Collections, State Bar of Wisconsin, the
University of Wisconsin Law School, National Business Institute and
Lorman Education Services regarding bankruptcy, foreclosure, and
collection. She is also a published author in the National Association
of Bankruptcy Trustees Journal.
Jean Steele is a Paralegal in the Banking, Bankruptcy and
Business Restructuring Practice Group of von Briesen & Roper, s.c.
She supports all aspects of representing a panel Chapter 7 Trustee,
creditors, and debtors, including litigation, asset recovery, and
protection of clients’ rights. Jean has over 20 years of
experience in the legal field, including a background in civil
litigation, corporate law, real estate and estate planning. She is
a member of the Madison Area Paralegal Association and volunteers in her
local community in a variety of fundraising activities.
