On April 20, 2005, sweeping bankruptcy legislation, the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 ("the Act") was signed into law. Ending eight years of legislative wrangling, the Act makes the most significant changes to the Bankruptcy Code since 1978.
