The Government Lawyers Division promotes the interests of government lawyers and provides an opportunity for government lawyers to participate in the leadership of the State Bar. Membership in the Division is voluntary, and any member of the State Bar who is a salaried employee of any government is eligible for membership.
On October 16, 2009 President Mike Kernats activated the GLD’s nominating committee. Melanie Swank, President-elect, Ann Molitor, Treasurer, and David Nispel, Director, serve on this committee. The terms of three members of the GLD Board of Directors expire June 30, 2010. President Kernats charged the committee with confirming a slate of candidates for these positions for the spring 2010 division election.
Directors serve 2-year terms. Newly elected Directors will begin their terms of office on July 1, 2010. Officers and Directors of the Government Lawyers Division meet six times per year. Half of these meetings are in-person conferences at the State Bar Center in Madison; the remaining meetings are conducted via teleconference.
We invite GLD Division members to consider serving on the Board of Directors. If you are interested in serving or have questions about serving, please contact one of the members of the nominating Committee.
