How to Place an In the News Announcement

If you are a State Bar member and you've moved, become a partner or an associate, taken on a partner, or received a promotion or an award, we'd like to hear from you. Talks, speeches (unless they are of national stature), honors bestowed by other publications, political announcements, and so on are not accepted as announcements. Notices about State Bar members in good standing are printed at no cost, must be submitted in writing, and are subject to editing. Items are printed as space is available. Photo placement: Submit a professional quality photo with your announcement. If the photo is used, the State Bar will issue an invoice for $30 per photo. Clearly identify the subject. Group photos are not accepted. High-resolution electronic photos are preferred; print photos will not be returned.

Deadline: Submit announcements by the first of the month for publication in following month. For example, to place an announcement in the April issue, send it to the State Bar before March 1. Send or email your announcement to: In the News, P.O. Box 7158, Madison, WI 53707-7158. Include your State Bar membership number.

Discounted Rates for Members for Display Announcements

Discounted rates on display advertising are available to State Bar members announcing a special event (opening a new office, promoting or hiring an attorney, relocation, firm anniversary, etc.). Advertisements for seminars, products, or services offered by State Bar members do not qualify for the discount. Special rate is available for no more than three issues during the calendar year. No agency commission. Full page, $850/ issue; one-half page, $645/issue; one-third page, $500/issue; one-quarter page, $400/issue. Color is available for an additional fee.
