    Bill Rameker, Iowa 1972, with Murphy Desmond S.C., Madison, has been elected to the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees board for a three-year term.

    Joseph A. Ranney III, Yale 1978, has been appointed as Adrian P. Schoone Visiting Fellow in Wisconsin Law at Marquette Law School. Ranney, with the Madison office of Dewitt, Ross & Stevens S.C., plans to use the fellowship to write a book examining Wisconsin’s contributions to the U.S. legal system.

    Sarah C. Walkenhorst, U.W. 2002 magna cum laude, has been elected president-elect of the Dane County Bar Association. She is an associate in the Madison office of Perkins Coie and focuses on patent litigation and intellectual property matters.

    Authors, Speakers

    Steven C. Bahls, Northwestern 1979, authored Shared Governance in Times of Change: A Practical Guide for Universities and Colleges, published by the Association of Governing Boards Press. He is president of Augustana College, Rockford, Ill.

    Thomas Domer, U.W. 1983, presented “Employer Fraud in Workers’ Compensation” at the SEAK National Worker’s Compensation and Occupational Health Conference in July in Massachusetts. He represents injured workers at Domer Law, Milwaukee.

    Michael Griesbach, Marquette 1986, has authored The Innocent Killer: A True Story of a Wrongful Conviction and Its Astonishing Aftermath (ABA Book Publ’g 2014). He is Manitowoc County assistant district attorney.

    Wisconsin Reserve Judge Emeritus Charles B. Schudson, U.W. 1974, presented a lecture on child sexual abuse. The presentation, sponsored by the U.S. State Department, took place at the Catholic University Law School, La Paz, Bolivia, in June.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    Ryan A. Blay, Loyola-Chicago 2006, has completed the requirements for consumer bankruptcy law national certification. He practices with Lakelaw, Kenosha.

    Nancy Bonniwell, North Dakota 1984, received the Outstanding Professional Adviser Award from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, in recognition of her work building relationships with the foundation and helping clients create charitable funds for the community’s benefit. She is managing partner of the Delafield office of Weiss Berzowski Brady LLP and concentrates on estate planning and business law.

    Peter Earle, Chicago-Kent 1988, with the Law Office of Peter Earle, Milwaukee, is a recipient of Public Justice’s annual Trial Lawyers of the Year Award for his work with a team that won a landmark $1.15 billion judgment against paint manufacturers in 2013.

    Gary A. Freyberg, U.W. 1984, and Richard Lewis. U.W. 1978, were named Prosecutors of the Year by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Freyberg is an assistant attorney general with the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Lewis is a Clark County assistant district attorney.

    Hupy and Abraham S.C., Milwaukee, won the United Performing Arts Fund Law Firm Challenge and received top honors due to the largest net increase in employee participation.

    Rebecca H. Mitich, Marquette 2009 magna cum laude, received the Aspire (Emerging Leader) Award from Wisconsin Commercial Real Estate Women at a ceremony in May. She is with the Milwaukee office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. and a member of the commercial real estate, commercial finance, and condominium and HOA law teams.

    Quarles & Brady LLP has received the Spirit of Excellence Award from the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center and the Exceptional Service Award from the ABA Death Penalty Representation Project.
