    Kimberly Walker, Marquette 1998, has been appointed executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee. She was formerly Milwaukee County corporation counsel.

    Michael Best & Friedrich LLP has launched Michael Best Strategies LLC, 1 S. Pinckney St., Suite 700, Madison. Led by former Wisconsin State Senator Ted Kanavas, the team will provide a full range of services, including public policy strategy, lobbying, and public relations support of businesses navigating their relationship with federal, state, and local governments.

    Glenn M. Stoddard, U.W. 1994, has moved Stoddard Law Office from Eau Claire to Bayfield. He will continue to provide statewide representation to clients, focusing on civil rights and environmental law.

    Gov. Scott Walker has appointed two new circuit court judges. The Hon. Kristine E. Drettwan, Minnesota 1993, Walworth County Circuit Court, previously was a Walworth County family court commissioner. The Hon. Keith A. Steckbauer, U.W. 1993, Waupaca County Circuit Court, previously was with Steckbauer Law Firm, Dale.

    Jason KnutsonJason Knutson, U.W. 2000, has been named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers. He is a partner at the Madison office of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C., focusing on complex litigation, medical malpractice, products liability, and personal injury.

    Kate E. Maternowski, Notre Dame 2012, was named Reinhart Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for 2013 for her work on a federal jury trial representing a prisoner bringing a claim for sexual abuse against a correctional officer. She is with the litigation department in the Milwaukee office of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C.

    Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge Marshall B. Murray, New England 1986, received the Administration on Children, Youth and Families Commissioner’s Award, to recognize his work with children and families in the court system.

    Pro Bono, Public Service

    The Kohn Law Firm S.C., a debt collection and creditors’ rights practice located in downtown Milwaukee, was recently recognized by Alderman Bob Donovan as the first corporate contributor to his “I Pledge Milwaukee” public safety initiative, after making a monetary pledge to that effort to reduce crime and increase safety.
