    Joshua J. BradyJoshua J. Brady, Marquette 2002, has joined Galanis, Pollack, Jacobs & Johnson, Milwaukee, as a shareholder with an emphasis in creditors’ rights and commercial business litigation.

    James Casey, Dayton 1988, has become pre-award team manager in the Office of Sponsored Programs, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He also is a faculty member in the M.S. in Research Administration program at Rush University, Chicago.

    Jonathan J. Cattey, Marquette 2010, has joined the Law Offices of Robert A. Levine, Milwaukee, as an associate and focuses on personal injury and general litigation.

    Julie A. Seno, Marquette 2002, and Colleen Uhlenkamp, Thomas M. Cooley 2011, have joined Davis & Kuelthau s.c. Seno, previously with McNally Peterson S.C., is with the corporate and real estate practice in the Milwaukee office. Uhlenkamp is with the labor and employment practice in the Madison office.

    John Gardner, Marquette 2004 magna cum laude, and Scott Paler, U.W. 2005 cum laude, have been promoted to partner at DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C., Madison. Gardner is in the labor and employment relations and litigation practice groups. Paler is with the labor and employment relations practice group, of which he recently was named chair.

    Michael Johnson, Creighton 2003, has been promoted to shareholder at Otjen, Van Ert & Weir S.C., which has changed its name to Otjen, Gendelman, Zitzer, Johnson & Weir S.C. and is now located at 20935 Swenson Drive, Suite 310, Waukesha.

    Nathan W. Judnic, Drake 2004 with honors, has become staff counsel for the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, Madison.

    Richard A. Latta, U.W. 1986, LL.M. New York Univ., has joined the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C., as a shareholder in the corporate practice group, focusing on corporate governance and transactional matters.

    Rhonda Martinson, U.W. 1989, has begun independent consulting and training on the criminal justice response to domestic violence. She previously was an attorney advisor with AEquitas: The Prosecutor’s Resource on Violence Against Women.

Gerald Mowris, U.W. 1973, has joined the Madison office as a partner in the litigation practice and family law group. He previously was a partner at Pellino & Mowris S.C.

    Emilu StarckEmilu Starck, St. Thomas 2013 magna cum laude, has joined Ruder Ware LLSC, Wausau, focusing on business transactional matters and health care issues.

Hawthorne Dr., Appleton, a civil litigation firm focusing on general liability, workers’ compensation defense of insurance companies and corporations, and representation of individuals in personal injury and workers’ compensation claims.

    Charles KahnCharles Kahn, U.W. 1975, has opened A Neutral View LLC, www.ANeutralView.com, a dispute resolution and coaching business, focusing on mediation and binding arbitration for complex controversies in business, real estate, personal injury, and family law matters. He previously was a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge.

    Melinda Swartz, Minnesota 1990 cum laude, has formed the Law Office of Melinda Swartz LLC, 316 N. Milwaukee St., Suite 535, Milwaukee, focusing on criminal appeals, postconviction proceedings, and litigation consultation and support.

    Appointments, Elections

    Jason Allen, U.W. 1998, has been appointed cochair of the energy industry team at Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a partner in the Milwaukee office focusing on energy, project, and infrastructure finance transactions.

    Jon E. Anderson, Marquette 1981, has been appointed managing partner of the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. He is chair of the labor and employment law practice group and exclusively represents management in human resource, labor, and employment law matters.

    The Hon. David L. Borowski, Marquette 1991, has been appointed to the Cultural and Entertainment Capital Needs Task Force of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce. He is a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge and currently is with the felony division.

    Marta Chou, U.W. 2003, has been named to the Hennepin County (Minn.) District Court by Gov. Mark Dayton. Previously, she was with the litigation department at Barnes & Thornburg, Minneapolis.

    Bruce B. Deadman, Denver Univ. 1979, has been elected to the emeritus board of Ducks Unlimited Inc. He is with the Green Bay office of Davis & Kuelthau s.c.

    James B. Egle, U.W. 1992 cum laude, has been elected to the board of Stafford Rosenbaum LLP. His practice focuses on contract negotiations, dealership and franchise law, business law, and estate planning and probate.

    Bryan C. Esch, U.W. 1997 Order of the Coif, has been named chair of the business practice group at DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. He focuses on business, real estate, natural resources, and trusts and estates in the Madison office.

    Miguel A. Ruiz, U.W. 1992, has been elected to the executive committee of Pretzel & Stouffer Chartered, Chicago. He also was a presenter at the American College of Wound Healing and Tissue Repair meeting in Chicago in December. He focuses on complex litigation involving catastrophic injuries, professional negligence, and civil rights defense.

    Thomas N. Shorter, Northeastern 1996, has been appointed vice president – public of the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation board. He is shareholder and chair of the health care practice group in the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C.

    Lawrence R. LaSusa, DePaul 1986, earned a certificate of completion from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education probate and estate planning program. He is with LaSusa Law Offices PLC, Traverse City, Mich.

    Carlton D. Stansbury, Iowa 1990 with distinction, authored a chapter on Wisconsin prenuptial law in Drafting Prenuptial Agreements (Wolters Kluwer 1994 & Supp. 2014). He is a shareholder with Burbach & Stansbury S.C., Milwaukee, and focuses on family law.

    Pro Bono, Public Service

    Michael Best & Friedrich LLP raised more than $7,000 for Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization that pairs girls with adult “running buddies” to promote fitness and personal enrichment. Some firm employees also volunteered with the organization as running buddies.
