    Michael G. Carter, North Carolina 1988, has been promoted to vice president and chief financial officer of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Milwaukee. He previously was head of the policyowner services department.

    Kelly M. Dodd, Marquette 2000, has joined Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. in the family law practice in Milwaukee and focuses on divorce, paternity, and postjudgment matters. She previously was with another Milwaukee firm.

    Kristin J. Eisenbraun, Marquette 2006, has joined Riley & Shane PA, Albuquerque, N.M., as an associate and focuses on insurance law. She previously was a law clerk to the Hon. Roderick T. Kennedy, New Mexico Court of Appeals.

    Sarah Germonprez, U.W. 2008, has joined Bell, Gierhart & Moore S.C., Madison, as an associate and concentrates in civil litigation and insurance defense.

    Jennifer Kopps-Wagner, U.W. 1996, has been promoted to senior vice president and general counsel of Assurant Health, Milwaukee. She previously was vice president, legal.

    Donald E. Locke, Minnesota 1997 cum laude, has been appointed chief of the American citizen services section at the U.S. Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. He is a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State and previously served in Bogota, Colombia, and Pristina, Kosovo.

    Ann Martin C. Ann Martin, Iowa 2004, has joined the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP as an associate on the labor and employment team. She previously was with Lindner & Marsack S.C.

    Christine A. Gimber, Hamline 1994, has been named managing partner of Weld, Riley, Prenn & Ricci S.C., Eau Claire. She is with the litigation section and the business and real estate section. Pamela M. Macal, U.W. 2003, William J. Spangler, Hamline 2003, and Andrea M. Voelker, U.W. 2003, have been promoted to shareholder. Macal and Voelker are with the labor section. Spangler is with the business and real estate section and the probate and estate planning section.

    Four attorneys have become assistant attorneys general with the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Joseph Ganzer, U.W. 2000, and Nancy Noet, U.W. 1994, are with the civil litigation unit. Ganzer previously was with Hodan, Doster & Ganzer, Milwaukee. Noet previously was with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. Adam Gerol, Drake 1988, and David W. Maas, U.W. 1998, are with the criminal litigation unit. Gerol previously was Ozaukee County Assistant District Attorney. Maas previously was with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

    Mark A. Amadeo, U.W. 1996, has opened the Amadeo Law Firm PLLC, with offices at 1629 K St., N.W., Washington, D.C., and 5235 Westview Dr., Suite 100, Frederick, Md., and focuses on ERISA and employment litigation. He previously was with the Washington, D.C., office of Sprenger & Lang PLLC.

    John C. Cabaniss, Wayne State 1981, has opened Cabaniss Law Office, 10200 N. Port Washington Rd., Mequon, and focuses on plaintiffs' personal injury work. He previously was with von Briesen & Roper s.c., Milwaukee.

    Stellpflug, Janssen, Hammer, Kirschling and Bartels S.C., headquartered in De Pere, has changed its name to Stellpflug Law S.C. The firm also has offices in Lakewood and Hayward.

    Michael J. Allen Michael J. Allen, Chicago 1984, has been elected to the board of RENEW Wisconsin, which promotes clean energy strategies. He is owner of Energy Law Wisconsin and advises energy development projects and assists companies that provide energy-related products and services.

    Ave M. Bie, U.W. 1990, has been appointed to the Wisconsin Crime Victims Council, which helps further the rights of crime victims in Wisconsin. She is a partner with the Madison office of Quarles & Brady LLP and focuses on public utilities and government relations. Ave M. Bie

    Eunice Gibson Eunice Gibson, U.W. 1973, has been named vice president of the labor law committee of the Inter-American Bar Association. She presented a paper on "Immigrant Workers in the United States" at the association's meeting in June in Lima, Peru.

    The Sauk County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Kevin R. Calkins, Baraboo; and president-elect - Joseph J. Hasler, Reedsburg.

    Judith Sperling-Newton, U.W. 1981, has been appointed to chair the assisted reproduction committee of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. She is with The Law Center for Children and Families, Madison.

    The Tri County Bar Association (Oneida, Vilas, and Forest counties) has elected the following officers: president - Todd R. McEldowney; vice president - Michael W. Schiek; secretary - Brian F. Bennett; and treasurer - Jennifer Stuber, all of Rhinelander.

    The Washington County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Frederick B. Kaftan; president-elect - David A. Nelson; secretary - Mark D. Benson; and treasurer - Juli A. Benedum, all of West Bend.

    Thomas Domer, U.W. 1983, has authored "Ethics in the Worker's Comp World," Trial (August 2008). He is with Domer Law, Milwaukee, and focuses on representing injured workers.

    Timothy F. Nixon, U.W. 1990, has coauthored The Increase in Prepackaged Chapter 11s (Aspatore Books 2008). He is a shareholder with the Green Bay office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. and leader of the business finance and restructuring practice group.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    John W. Daniels Jr., Harvard 1974, was honored by the National Bar Association, the oldest and largest national association predominately comprised of African-American lawyers and judges in the United States, at its annual meeting in Houston in July. Daniels, chair of Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee, was recognized for his professional achievements and community service.

    Correction: The Hon. John A. Neuenschwander, Chicago-Kent 1983, received the 2008 Lifetime Jurist Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Municipal Judges Association. He is city of Kenosha municipal judge and a professor of history at Carthage College, Kenosha. Judge Neuenschwander's name was given incorrectly in the July issue.

    Ted M. Warshafsky, U.W. 1952, has been selected by the American Trial Lawyers Association as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in the United States. He is a partner with Warshafsky, Rotter, Tarnoff & Bloch S.C., Milwaukee.
