Build the Future: Volunteer for a State Bar Committee By April 15

State Bar President-elect Fran Deisinger invites members to get involved in the State Bar by volunteering to serve on a committee in 2016-17.

    Francis W. Deisinger

Francis DeisingerFeb. 3, 2016 – Here in the full depth of winter, it may be difficult to contemplate the warm days of spring and summer. But they will come, and with them, opportunity for members of the State Bar.

This spring, as State Bar president-elect, I have the opportunity to appoint members to the State Bar standing and special committees.

I invite you to volunteer to serve on a State Bar committee.

Service on a committee provides the opportunity for you to influence important issues facing the profession and the legal system. It also helps you forge connections with other members of the profession – connections that will be forever valuable to your practice.

Committees conduct much of the work of the State Bar, influence policy on critical issues, and have significant input into the operation of the State Bar as an entity. As a committee member, you’ll make friends for life, play a role in improving the State Bar and the legal system, and make important contributions that you’ll look back on with satisfaction.

Don’t hold yourself back if you have never served before. Our organization needs new volunteers to get involved, to provide new direction and new ideas. Whether you are a new lawyer, unsure of how or whether to get involved, or a veteran who for whatever reasons has stayed on the sidelines, perhaps now is the time to begin.

Please take the opportunity to visit the Leadership Opportunities and Committees pages, and submit an Interest Form to let me know which committees and issues facing Wisconsin lawyers you would like to contribute to.

Appointments to standing committees are for three years; appointments to special committees are for one year. All committee appointments will begin on July 1.

My friendly request is this: Step forward, have a say, and volunteer for a committee. And trust me when I say this – the rewards will make you glad you did.

    Thank you,

    Fran Deisinger, President-elect
