    2015 Health, Labor, and Employment Law InstituteAug. 5, 2015 – The 2015 Health, Labor, and Employment Law Institute at the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort in Wisconsin Dells will help you focus on the big picture, with four plenary sessions, the option to choose from 18 breakout sessions for a customized experience that fits your interests and your practice, and additional CLE sessions available when the institute is over.

    Learn how to understand the factors that contribute to lawyer happiness at the optional CLE luncheon Thursday, featuring Dr. Gregory Van Rybroek, director of Mendota Mental Health Institute. He’ll empower you to determine what happiness means for you in your career and personal life.

    Managing Whistleblower Claims Under the FCA

    Patrick S. Coffey of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., Paul T. Van Den Heuvel of Mercy Health System Corp., and Stacy Gerber Ward of the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District Civil will break down the trends in whistleblower cases and help you understand the relationship between qui tam relators and government health fraud enforcement authorities. You’ll gain perspective on the common triggers for these controversies and the effective management of this still growing area of risk.

    General Counsel Roundtable

    David Cade with the American Health Lawyers Association, Christine E. Woleske of Bellin Health, and Choua L. Vang of Bellin Health will explain how they perceive and address issues such as health care reform implementation, the implications of social media in the workplace, a continuing trend toward consolidation, talent acquisition, engagement and retention, and many others. Moderated by Ralph V. Topinka of ProHealth Care.

    Technology Used in the Practice of Law: What are your Benefits and your Risks? ­

    The use of technology has become a big aspect of every practice, no matter the field. Dean Dietrich of Ruder Ware LLSC and Timothy Pierce of State Bar of Wisconsin explain the benefits and risks of common and emerging technologies and how they impact you and your practice.

    When Disaster Strikes! How to Ensure Compliance in Crisis Management from a Health and Employment Law Perspective

    Daniel Finerty, of Lindner & Marsack S.C., Tom O’Day of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., and David Laatsch, Senior Director of Strategic Planning with Aurora Healthcare will prepare you to face the worst. They’ll provide insight on how you can prepare for and manage legal compliance with HIPPA, OSHA, and ADA mandates when hurricanes, pandemics, and more land your hospital in the eye of the storm.

We’ll be recording and webcasting select breakout sessions at later dates – and institute attendees can attend the first two webcast days absolutely free.     CLE and EPR Credits

    The institute’s CLE sessions will be submitted for general program approval by the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners for up to 12 CLE credits including up to 1 EPR credits. It will also be submitted for Minnesota CLE credit.
