    Techniques to improve doctor-lawyer relationships

Feb 15, 2012 – Whether you represent plaintiffs or defendants in personal injury cases, understanding doctors’ concerns and refining your communications with them can improve the doctor-lawyer relationship. In the video above, Guy DuBeau, Axley Brynelson LLP, and Jason Knutson, Habush Habush & Rottier S.C., offer some techniques that may be helpful in personal injury or medical malpractice cases and address why some doctors may be avoiding you. Knutson and DuBeau detail best practices for contacting a physician and finding information on medical issues. The authors also discuss the information a lawyer should provide physicians, how to motivate doctors during a hearing, and how to build a working relationship with physician staff.

In the article “Walk in ‘Our’ Shoes: Why Docs Avoid Lawyers,” published in the February 2012 Wisconsin Lawyer magazine, Knutson and DuBeau further explain how to you can establish productive relationships with doctors.

Join Guy DuBeau for insights in “Using Medical Records to Support Your Car Crash Case,” a State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE® live webcast program on March 28, 2012, from noon to 1 p.m.
