April 15, 2015 – Get involved in your bar local or specialty bar association and receive free CLE and EPR training at the Wisconsin Bar Leaders Conference on May 8 at the State Bar Center in Madison.

Anyone active in their local or specialty bar is welcome to attend the conference, as is anyone interested in getting involved in their bar associations’ leadership.

“The conference provides a great opportunity for local and specialty bars to grow their local level leadership by identifying their future leaders and encouraging them to attend this free conference,” said Margaret Ahne Herlitzka, chair of the State Bar’s Local Bar Relations Committee.

You don’t have to be a current bar leader to attend: anyone involved or interested in becoming involved in leading their local bar association is invited to register and attend the conference at no cost. With this conference, the State Bar is providing programs, activities, and information for lawyers to take back to their local and specialty bar associations.

“This year's conference will send attendees home with multiple sessions that can be re-presented to their members. The presentation materials are all going back to local bars. I look forward to seeing many of the state's leaders at the conference,” said Johanna Kirk of Kirk Law Office LLC in Superior and chair of the conference’s planning committee. Kirk is also past president of the Douglas County Bar Association.

Learn the Most Effective Strategies for Lawyers

At the conference, the featured keynote speaker is Judge Barbara B. Crabb of the U.S. District Court Western District in Madison. Nominated by President Jimmy Carter in 1979, Judge Crabb brings her unique and authoritative viewpoint on the most effective strategies she’s seen employed by attorneys in her 16 years with the federal judiciary.

    Three CLE Tracks

The conference offers three CLE programming tracks, covering such topics as rights and obligations when using social media, how bar associations can help lawyers transitioning out of law, ethics and limited-scope representation, the latest practice management tips, substance abuse and ethical violations, and how different generations view lawyers.

    Take CLE Training Home

The conference’s new "Take Away Training" allows attendees to take six different CLE programs back to their bar associations to present to their members. The programs include everything in one package – PowerPoint presentations, course materials, talking points, and more.

    Door Prizes and More

Lunch is included for attendees. And those who stay for the conference wrap-up have a chance to win door prizes, including a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad, compliments of West Bend Mutual Insurance. And one lucky participant will go home with a complimentary pass to the 2015 Annual Meeting & Conference!
