Wisconsin Law FoundationIn 2013, the Wisconsin Law Foundation (WLF) awarded more than $26,000 to high-impact public service and education programs statewide. Your support made the difference.

“Because of the generous support of our members, more than 3,000 students, teachers, parents, attorneys, and judges across the state were able to participate in the Wisconsin High School Mock Trial program this year,” said WLF President Dean Dietrich. “Thanks to member support, Teen Court programs in Crawford and Grant counties were able to sustain and expand their critically needed services.”

Following is a sampling of the impact your contributions to the WLF have had this past year:

    • Hundreds of citizens across Wisconsin have participated in Our Courts Wisconsin – a new innovative State Bar of Wisconsin program that educates the public about the courts and the legal system.

    • More than 1,000 individuals needing legal assistance who were unable to afford legal representation were helped by the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bankruptcy Pro Se Help Desk.

    • Centro Legal was able to provide legal support to more than 1,800 people through its Family Law Consultation Program.

    • ABC for Health, Inc. received vital funds to co-sponsor in Winnebago, Polk, and Milwaukee counties the new “2013 Insurance Changes with Exchanges” educational workshops, webcast, and corresponding consumer publication.

    • The Milwaukee Justice Center was able to convert its client intake system from paper to electronic greatly improving the efficiency and accuracy of data collected. This change will greatly enhance the Center’s impact in helping citizens who cannot afford legal services and representation but don’t qualify for other legal assistance.
