    DOJ creates new online public records law resource

    Sept. 1, 2010 – The Wisconsin Department of Justice website now offers access to information about Wisconsin Public Records Law. All resource materials may be accessed, downloaded, and printed free of charge. The website includes:

    • Attorney General Van Hollen’s formal and informal opinions

    • Sample documents such as required prerelease notices and letters seeking clarification of public records requests

    • A video recording of the department’s 2009 public records seminar

    • Other resources including Van Hollen’s recent memo about the Schill decision.

    All resource materials may be accessed, downloaded, and printed free of charge. More resource materials will be posted as they become available.

    The online resource materials may be accessed through the Open Meetings & Public Records link on the Wisconsin Department of Justice home page, or visit the Public Records Resources directly.
