    Leaving a law firm? What are the ethical considerations?

    Aug. 18, 2010 – In this video, Dean Dietrich and Tim Pierce discuss issues that arise when a lawyer moves from one law firm to another. There are no ethics rules specifically related to lawyer departures, says Pierce. However, he observes that some lawyers mistakenly believe they have a right to representation of a client and related files. Pierce reiterates that lawyers have no right to the current or future representation of a client. Clients have a right to counsel of their choice.
