Dec. 31, 2009 – Law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies can provide summer employment and valuable legal experience to first-year law students of diverse backgrounds by participating in the 2010 State Bar Diversity Clerkship Program.

The Diversity Outreach Committee sponsors the program to help employers gain greater access to law students of diverse backgrounds. “This unique program provides legal employers with access to first-year law students of diverse backgrounds from Wisconsin law schools,” says program chair Roger Flores. “The  program also provides first-year law students with a limited-term opportunity to gain real-life work experience in varied legal fields within Wisconsin. The program is a win-win situation for both employers and students.”

“The program requires first-year law students to make a serious commitment to accept an assigned match with one of our participating employers,” says Flores. “In return, law students receive full-time, paid employment and gain real world legal experience with early exposure to career and networking opportunities.”

Employers can enroll through Jan. 15. For more information, contact State Bar project coordinator Patricia Morgan at (900) 444-9404, ext. 6107, or (608) 250-6107 or visit Wisbar.
