    Deep Discounts Available for 2014 ABA Chicago TECHSHOW – Bringing Lawyers & Technology Together

    The 2014 ABA TECHSHOW offers 16 tracks and more than 50 sessions that bring lawyers and technology together. The three-day conference is in Chicago from March 27 to 29. Register by Feb. 10 for discounts.

    Jan. 2, 2014 – State Bar of Wisconsin members and their office staff can receive up to a $550 discount for the 2014 ABA TECHSHOW®, from March 27 to 29, in Chicago.

    Keynote speaker Rick Klau is a partner at Google Ventures where he helps lead the Startup Lab. He was previously a product manager at Google where he led product initiatives on Blogger, Google+, and YouTube.

    16 Tracks and 50 Sessions

    This year’s conference offers 16 tracks and more than 50 sessions (plus special ‘how to’ sessions on topics including Facebook, LinkedIn, building a website, creating forms, and more).

    • Office – This track focuses on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

    • Practice Management – Learn the latest on billing, software, visual workflow applications, and efficiency.

    • Social Media – This track focuses on ethics, research, media policies, and making your content work for you.

    • Litigation – Litigators talk about making the best use of technology in presentations including using timelines, chronologies, and managing transcripts.

    • iPAD – See what you can do with your iPad, learn about iGadgets and iGear, and working with Word.

    • Cloud – Learn about VDI, Ethics 20/20, security, cloud computing and management, document storage, and compare Office 365 with Google apps.

    • E-discovery – This track includes a case law update, how to collect and use social media for ediscovery, predictive coding, and a motions hearing workshop.

    • Large Firm – This track addresses staff use of unapproved data services and devices, financing and billing issues, regulatory impact on information management, and client service portals.

    • Mobile – Learn about Androids, tablets versus PCs, and gears and gadgets.

    • Paperless – This track highlights the tools of the paperless practice, PDF, document management and scanning, and better mobility with less paper.

    • MAC – This track is for the MAC-curious lawyer and power users.

    • Advanced IT/Threat – Find out about the corrosion of confidentiality, tracking hacks to secure your practice, encryptions, and locking down mobile devices.

    • IOS, Windows 8.1, Androids, and Blackberry – Learn about apps in these four tracks.

    Nerino Petro Makes Two Presentations

    State Bar of Wisconsin Law Practice Management Advisor Nerino Petro presents Road Tested: Gear, Gadgets & Guides that Smooth the Bumps in the Practice Road, on Friday, March 28, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Petro offers a look at new technology that can remove some of your practice frustrations or open new service opportunities for your practice. Explore the tools that you can take into trial or on the road.  It doesn't matter what flavor you use, iOS, Android or Windows, this session works for everyone.

    Petro also presents Friday’s closing session, 60 Sites in 60 Minutes, from 5 to 6 p.m.

    If you plan to register for all three days, call State Bar Administrative Coordinator Emily Johnson at (608) 250-6098, or (800) 444-9404, ext. 6098, to put your name on the Super Pass list. The first 10 State Bar of Wisconsin members to register for the entire conference are eligible for the Super Pass discount rate of $500. You do not have to be members of the same firm. To be eligible for the Super Pass discount, do not register directly at the ABA TECHSHOW website.

    If there are fewer than 10 State Bar of Wisconsin members on the list, Johnson will contact you by Feb. 10 so you can take advantage of $200 early-bird discount (which expires Feb. 10) and an additional $155 discount for being a State Bar member.
