Starting your own law practice can be a scary yet exciting proposition. The thought of being your own boss – controlling not only the type of clients and cases you take, but also the processes you follow and hours you work – may have you itching to hang up that shingle. But before you do, make sure you aren’t going in with unrealistic expectations.

When asked what resources he recommends to members interested in opening their own firms, our own practice management advisor, Tison Rhine, suggested the following:

<a href="

In a normal reporting period, you have 24 months to earn 30 CLE credits. That’s an average of 1.25 credits per month. When you look at it like that, it doesn’t seem too bad. But if you wait until the reporting deadline is staring you in the face, earning any remaining credits can seem like climbing a fiery volcano guarded by an angry dragon.
