Not receiving your E-lists?

Due to the growing problem of spam many web-based email services (i.e. Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) and email applications (i.e. Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.) have taken measures to automatically filter emails sent to multiple recipients. Unfortunately, these filters block many newsletters and legitimate emails in addition to spam. Our messages are not immune. These filters may incorrectly block our mailings, preventing them from ever reaching your inbox.

We recommend that you take the three simple steps to help ensure that our messages reach you. Even if you are currently receiving our messages, please consider following these recommendations to prevent future problems.

  1. Add email addresses to you Contacts (Address Book)

In some cases, you can have email automatically approved by adding email addresses to your contacts or address book. If you should have both web-based and email software in place (e.g. Gmail being forwarded to your Outlook), you should add the email address (e.g. listname@elists.wisbar.org) to your contacts/address book in both your web-based and email programs.

  2. Add email addresses to your Safe Senders List

Most email programs and web-based services also have a "safe senders" feature. Adding email addresses to your safe senders list helps ensure the messages you want get to you. If you need assistance, ask your office techie for assistance.

For extremely detailed instructions on adding safe senders, visit Twelve Horses. Twelve Horses has developed an incredibly detailed set of instructions for adding safe senders to many common email programs or services.

  3. Whitelist the State Bar in your spam filters

A whitelist is a list of approved organizations that your spam filter uses to permit email to come to you. It is usually managed by your network administrator, your technical staff, or your Internet Service Provider. By adding domains and addresses to your whitelist, you are telling the email system not to filter email from those senders.

After adding addresses to your address book and your safe senders list, please ask your network administrator to whitelist the State Bar, then send them the following information: wisbar.org, elists.wisbar.org, mktg.wisbar.org, 66.170.21.70 and 66.170.21.75. They will know how to add them to your organization’s whitelist.

If your office uses Postini you may need to do this yourself. Ask your technical staff if you need assistance with this web tool.

By taking these simple actions, you will resolve most causes of not receiving your e-list mail. We thank you for your time and effort and hope that you will continue to enjoy our discussion groups, newsletters and notices.
