Keeping current on worker’s comp law can be challenging. Regulations clash, laws change, cases go one way or another, and complexities multiply. The State Bar of Wisconsin’s Annual Worker’s Compensation Update is your chance to get up to date on the most recent developments in practice, procedure, and substantive law in this area.

This program contains highlights from the most noteworthy worker’s compensation cases decided this past year by the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Wisconsin Labor & Industry Review Commission. Plus, hear an update on legislative developments including proposed  legislation from the Worker’s Compensation Advisory Council’s labor and management members  and the impact of Wisconsin's Domestic Partnership Law on Chapter 102.

Focus on penalty claims
Worker’s comp cases can be tough enough. No one likes to be faced with an additional penalty claim. This year, you’ll gain from three sessions devoted to handling these hard-to-defend penalty claims. Armed with this background, you can better advise client companies on how to stay out of the penalty box.

Deal with disability and Medicare set-aside accounts
Is your client entitled to Medicare benefits? If so, you’ll gain valuable insights from a discussion examining the interplay between the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and the new SCHIP Extension Act (passed in December of 2007). Learn about the possible effect on worker’s compensation cases, and what you can do to protect the interests of a client who is a Medicare beneficiary!

You’ll also have an opportunity to refresh your understanding of permanent and total disability provisions, as well as their differences under state and federal regulations.

Your must-attend seminar
Don’t miss this opportunity to sharpen your practice skills, no matter what your level of expertise.
