The
State Bar publishes
comprehensive substantive law books and system books. State Bar CLE
books are professionally produced legal publications, written by highly
respected Wisconsin lawyers and judges.
The books, ranging in length from 8 to 1400 pages, are reviewed for organization and substance by our staff and an editorial review committee. Most major publications are professionally edited and indexed. Books are supplemented regularly.
Our system books can save you hours of time by providing clear explanations of the law, relevant citations, and essential forms for handling procedures covered in the book. In addition, many books include handy checklists, practice tips and sample letters. Forms are available on disk for many of the CLE books.
The State Bar supplements its books annually or as needed. Revisions are published every few years. When you order a book from the State Bar, your purchase includes any previous supplements. Moreover, any supplement published within three months of your purchase will be shipped to you automatically and FREE of charge.
To help you keep your books up-to-date and save money, the State Bar offers an automatic supplementation service. With this service, new supplements and revisions are mailed automatically with an invoice. The invoice includes the cost of the supplement or revision at a 10% discount, the standard postage and handling charge, and Wisconsin sales tax. Return privileges apply, and you may cancel your subscription at any time.
If you DO NOT wish to subscribe to new supplements or revisions, please notify Customer Service after you order.
If you would like to know what you have on automatic supplementation, please call Customer Service at (608) 257-3838 or (800) 728-7788.
Many of the State Bar's CLE Books are also available on the Lois CD-ROM. You can search multiple books at once, click on pop-up footnotes and supplements, and, if you subscribe to the LOIS Professional Library, move instantly from a citation in a book to the full text of the cited Wisconsin case or statute.
You can purchase books on the CD-ROM at the same prices as the printed versions. If you buy -- or already own -- the printed version of a book, you get a discount on the CD-ROM version. Special prices are also available for selected "practice libraries." Please call Customer Service at (608) 257-3838 or (800) 728-7788.
If you are not a LOIS Professional Library subscriber, you can obtain the same benefits of State Bar CLE Books on CD-ROM by purchasing subscriptions to State Bar CLE Books Online. As with State Bar CLE Books on CD-ROM, special prices are available for selected "practice libraries" of State Bar CLE Books Online. Please call Customer Service at (608) 257-3838 or (800) 728-7788.
Although you should allow two weeks for delivery, most books and supplements are in stock and are sent out within two working days.
Most orders can be sent out within 24 hours for a small additional charge. Rather than placing your order online, simply call Customer Service at (800) 728-7788, charge your order, and request "Rush Service."
Return privileges apply on all books and supplements. If for any reason you are not satisfied with a book or supplement, simply return it in undamaged, unmarked condition within 30 days. Your money, less shipping and handling, will be refunded promptly. Note: We strongly recommend that you use UPS to ensure that we receive your package undamaged and to verify delivery. Details on how to return a book can be found in our return policy.
The State Bar of Wisconsin publishes books on Wisconsin law as a member service. Unlike for-profit operations, the State Bar spends only a modest amount on packaging, marketing, and "window dressing." Our emphasis is on substance, so we invest our resources in researching, editing, cite checking, and professionally indexing our books. The prices for State Bar books reflect our nonprofit philosophy. Although we don't share the cost advantages of the national publishers who print and sell thousands of copies of a book, we try to keep our prices at a reasonable level through careful cost control procedures.
We also rely in large part on volunteer authors and reviewers who donate their valuable time and expertise to help us serve you
Do you have an idea for a new CLE Book or a suggestion for improving an existing one? Have you found an error in one of our books? Would you like information on becoming an author or reviewer of a State Bar CLE book? Email your comments or requests to Customer Service.
