The Inside the Bar is published monthly by the Bar's Periodicals & Consumer Publications Department. It focuses on the association's activities and services -- in contrast to the State Bar's monthly Wisconsin Lawyer magazine, which carries substantive legal articles and general-interest articles about the law and justice system.
Inside the Bar is typically eight pages long and reports on topics such as:
If you have State Bar-related information for Inside the Bar, please submit it by the first of the month preceding the month in which you wish it to be covered. (For example, information received by Feb. 1 can appear in the March issue, if space allows and content is appropriate for the Inside the Bar editorial focus.) Letters and other submissions may need to be edited for content, length and clarity.
State Bar governors are encouraged to communicate with their constituents via inserts in Inside the Bar. The budget allows each district to send up to four such inserts each year. Each insert is a single sheet, printed on two sides and mailed only to members in a given district. Please provide the copy for the insert on a PC-compatible computer disk or in camera-ready printed form with side and bottom margins of one inch and a top margin of two inches on the first page. Please send inserts to Joyce Hastings at the State Bar by the 10th of the month preceding the month in which you wish it to be mailed. (For example, an insert for the March Inside the Bar should be received by Feb. 10.)
Inside the Bar does not accept advertising, but display and classified ads are accepted by the State Bar's Wisconsin Lawyer magazine.
Each State Bar member receives one free subscription to Inside the Bar; members may order additional subscriptions for $18 a year (for library collections or nonlawyer staff, for example) and nonmembers may subscribe for $36 a year. To subscribe, contact the State Bar.
