Continuing Education

Forms on disk and books on CD-ROM

Many CLE books are published with accompanying forms on disk, allowing you to use electronic forms in your practice quickly and easily. CLE books are also available on CD-ROM. These books are hypertext-linked to Wisconsin cases, statutes and the administrative code.

Publications

Wisconsin Lawyer Directory

The annual directory contains addresses and phone numbers of all attorneys admitted to practice in Wisconsin, all Wisconsin law firms, plus special sections on state and federal courts, state offices, the State Bar of Wisconsin and a directory of businesses providing law-related services. Every Wisconsin-licensed attorney automatically receives one free directory in January.

The Nonresident Lawyers Division publishes a membership directory categorized by state in the Wisconsin Lawyer Directory. The listing includes up to three areas of practice for nonresident members, which are taken from their most recently submitted dues statements. If you are in need of a referral, the division encourages you to use this listing of fellow State Bar of Wisconsin members.

Lawyer-to-Lawyer Directory

The Wisconsin Lawyer Directory includes the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Directory - a listing of more than 700 lawyers willing to share their knowledge in various areas of practice with other State Bar of Wisconsin members.

Career

Educational Resource Library

State Bar members have borrowing privileges for the Educational Resource Library. Materials in hard copy, audio and video formats cover a variety of law-related topics. For more information, contact the State Law Library at (800) 322-9755.

This benefit offers job seekers free access to thousands of current law-related position openings, searchable by job type, area of practice and geographic location. Lawyer Assistance

Wisconsin Lawyers Assistance Program

This program provides State Bar of Wisconsin members, their families and staff with toll-free phone access to confidential assistance with stress related and alcohol or drug dependency problems. The Helpline number is (800) 543-2625. This is a 24/7 program.

Practice Resources

FREE Ethics Hotline

State Bar of Wisconsin members have access to informal guidance and help in resolving questions regarding Wisconsin’s Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys from the staff ethics attorney by calling (608) 250-6168 or (800) 444-9404, ext. 6168 during regular business hours.

Law Office Management Assistance Program (LOMAP)

LOMAP assists attorneys, firms and offices in meeting business planning, personnel, facilities and operations management, accounting, and technology needs.

Practice 411 is the State Bar’s practice management electronic list. Practice 411 is open to all State Bar members to share information, ask questions, and connect with a panel of experts when tackling all areas of practice management. More information on LOMAP.

Legal Research Service

The State Bar currently has legal research discount programs with LexisNexis® and Loislaw. A call-in service to the Wisconsin State Law Library that gives access to a variety of databases - including LexisNexis® and Westlaw® is also available.
